Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model (Pt. 1)

This week we're discussing the shocking docuseries "Reality Check: Inside America's Next Top Model." The popular doc interviews former contestants of the modeling reality show, as well as judges, producers, TV executives, and the head honcho herself, Tyra Banks. The pandemic gave people a lot of time to catch up on TV and revisit old favorites but some of those old favorites looked a little different with 2020 vision (...see what I did there?). And ANTM was one of those shows that had a huge social media response, though often a negative one. With increasing attention back on the show, "Reality Check" attempts to take a deeper dive into ANTM's popularity, and how it started to fall apart.

The Cult of the Real Housewife: Mary Scamdalene

This week we're discussing the TLC docuseries "The Cult of the Real Housewife." This doc centers around Mary Cosby, of "The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City" fame, and her controversial church, Faith Temple Pentecostal. And baybeeee, our girl puts the "Christ" in Christian Dior! From allegedly demanding astronomical tithes from her congregants, to marrying her step-grandfather (because her grandmother insisted on it??), Mary's life has been under intense scrutiny since RHOSLC premiered. But nothing has loomed larger than the accusations that her church is a cult and its members view Mary as God. Through interviews with relatives & former church members, and actual audio & video clips from church services, this docuseries attempts to shine a light on the [allegedly] harmful nature of Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, and the ministry of Mary and Robert Cosby, Sr.

This week we're discussing the second half of S3 of "The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" (ep. 6-10) and the reunion. For a season that started out pretty explosively, the second half seemed to fizzle out. After much back & forth between fragments of the #MomTok group, it seemed like they had finally ended in a somewhat good place. But those warm & fuzzy feelings proved short-lived by the time we reached the [very awkwardly-paced??] reunion. Idk if MomTok is gonna survive this, y'all and...I'm not sure how much they even care.
