Their Eyes Were Watching TV
Co-hosts Mal & Kam have been working hard on perfecting this podcast and look forward to sharing it with you! After graduating from The University of North Carolina, the two friends bonded over a love for TV, movies and all things pop culture. But don‘t expect the two to just parrot each other‘s comments on the show; while they may like a lot of the same shows and movies, their viewpoints are often as varied and numerous as Forrest Gump‘s box of chocolates.

Honk for Jesus...: Don’t Save Him, He Don’t Wanna Be Saved

Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Hallelu, saints! This week we're discussing the mockumentary "Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul." which centers around a megachurch pastor and first lady who are attempting to rebuild their congregation following a major scandal. The film humorously highlights the moral hypocrisy and spectacle attached to megachurches, as well as the all too common trend of preachers NOT practicing what they preach. While quite funny, HFJSYS is also a layered film that takes the viewer on an unexpected emotional ride.
"Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul." is currently playing in theaters and streaming on Peacock.

Monday Sep 05, 2022
This week we're discussing Jordan Peele's third film, "Nope." This sci-fi horror centers on the Haywood family, who has been raising and training horses for Hollywood productions going back generations. Jobs have slowed but...freaky UFO activity around their ranch has picked alllll the way up. But instead of just saying "nope" and moving like the title might imply (and my a$$ woulda done), siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood decide to try and find a way to outsmart the UFO and cement their family's legacy once and for all.
"Nope" is currently playing in theaters.

Trying something a bit different with this episode! Instead of just focusing on one show or movie, we get into a buncha things we're watching. Now...we recorded this in late May, so excuse the topics being a bit dated, but we'd still love your feedback on if you want more episodes like this!
We've had a busy few weeks but will be back with a new episode next week!

Rap Sh!t: Seduce & Scheme
Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
Tuesday Aug 02, 2022
This week we’re discussing Issa Rae’s new show “Rap Sh!t,” which centers around two estranged high school friends in Miami who reconnect and form a rap group. After a few drinks, they go on Instagram Live and freestyle the catchy bop “Seduce & Scheme,” which immediately goes viral. Though they have very different views on women in hip hop and what it takes to make it, their desires to rise above their current circumstances fuel them to make the partnership work. Their central story mirrors Miami duo, City Girls, and pays homage to the rap goddesses who have come up in the age of social media.
Also… Kam has evidently been watching a lot of “Top Boy” :-|
"Rap Sh!t" airs Thursday nights on HBOMax.

As with other seasons, the current couples are struggling with the stress and time constraints of the 90 day K-1 visa, and trying to figure out if they will make it to the altar before time is up. But unlike other seasons, the vast majority of this cast is...annoying.
"90 Day Fiancé" airs Sundays at 8/7c on TLC.
