Their Eyes Were Watching TV
Co-hosts Mal & Kam have been working hard on perfecting this podcast and look forward to sharing it with you! After graduating from The University of North Carolina, the two friends bonded over a love for TV, movies and all things pop culture. But don‘t expect the two to just parrot each other‘s comments on the show; while they may like a lot of the same shows and movies, their viewpoints are often as varied and numerous as Forrest Gump‘s box of chocolates.

New Jack City Live: Supporting Black Broadway...?
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Thursday Dec 22, 2022
Ya girls got fancy and decided to have a night out at the theatre! We saw the critically acclaimed stage play "New Jack City" (and by "critically acclaimed," we mean - Ice T, costar of the original film, claimed to enjoy it). This live version of the classic 1991 film featured many a 90s star, including Treach, Gary Dourdan, Flex Alexander, Big Daddy Kane, and Allen Payne, who reprised his role as Gee Money. Claudette Ortiz from City High was also a pleasant surprise in the cast! If you got money to burn and are feeling nostalgic, "New Jack City" is still touring across the US and quite possibly, coming to a city near you! And if you're feeling nostalgic but wanna save $65-200 bucks, the movie is streaming on Tubi for free :)

Wednesday Nov 30, 2022
Getting this out a little late because...LIFE. But this week we're discussing part three of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" reunion. The ladies had already discussed a number of issues, including the bullying of Garcelle's teen son (get Diana TF outta here!), accusations of Erika leaking stories to the press, and chic wind chimes, but when big Kathy (Hilton) took the stage, baybeeeee. Got the girls, namely Lisa Rinna, right together! Mama did not come to play, and we are still waiting for your lie detector results, Lisa. So raise your glass, or fist if you're Kyle, to the end of another hella entertaining RHOBH season.
"The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" airs on Bravo.

Queen Sugar: WTF is the Point of NFTs?!
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
This week we're discussing the beautiful family drama, "Queen Sugar." In episode 5 of this final season, entitled "With A Kind Of," members of the Bordelon family deal with past experiences coming back to haunt them [unfairly]: A cheating spouse; incarceration due to youthful mistakes; and a life-changing assault made public by a family member who had previously been trusted. The Bordelons have been through so much over the last seven seasons but through the immense growth and maturity these characters have shown, these things that may have broken them in the past will NOT take them under this time. Can I get an amen, somebody?! ...No? Ok, cool.
We also try to wrap our mind around NFTs because like...girl, what?
TW: Mention of sexual assault and rape within the show (not actually shown on screen).
"Queen Sugar" airs Tuesday nights on OWN.

Dooooon't f%ck with her, fellas! This ain't Lou's first time at the rodeo.
This week we're discussing the action-thriller "Lou." Lou is a grouchy loner who pretty much keeps to herself but when her neighbor Hannah's daughter is kidnapped and she turns to Lou for help, Lou steps up and surprises everyone with her...very particular set of skills. During their efforts to get Hannah's daughter back, we learn more about their personal connections, and see how far a mother will go for the people (or things) she cares about.
"Lou" is available to stream on Netflix.

Honk for Jesus...: Don’t Save Him, He Don’t Wanna Be Saved
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Wednesday Sep 28, 2022
Hallelu, saints! This week we're discussing the mockumentary "Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul." which centers around a megachurch pastor and first lady who are attempting to rebuild their congregation following a major scandal. The film humorously highlights the moral hypocrisy and spectacle attached to megachurches, as well as the all too common trend of preachers NOT practicing what they preach. While quite funny, HFJSYS is also a layered film that takes the viewer on an unexpected emotional ride.
"Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul." is currently playing in theaters and streaming on Peacock.

Nope: Alien Superstar
Monday Sep 05, 2022
Monday Sep 05, 2022
This week we're discussing Jordan Peele's third film, "Nope." This sci-fi horror centers on the Haywood family, who has been raising and training horses for Hollywood productions going back generations. Jobs have slowed but...freaky UFO activity around their ranch has picked alllll the way up. But instead of just saying "nope" and moving like the title might imply (and my a$$ woulda done), siblings OJ and Emerald Haywood decide to try and find a way to outsmart the UFO and cement their family's legacy once and for all.
"Nope" is currently playing in theaters.

Trying something a bit different with this episode! Instead of just focusing on one show or movie, we get into a buncha things we're watching. Now...we recorded this in late May, so excuse the topics being a bit dated, but we'd still love your feedback on if you want more episodes like this!
We've had a busy few weeks but will be back with a new episode next week!
